Our Community Code of Conduct

Planned Parenthood Regina's Policy

       This Community Code of Conduct is designed to maintain a safe* environment for everyone. All community members are expected to adhere to this code of conduct, including: Planned Parenthood Regina Staff, Volunteers, Board Members, Visiting Clinicians, Contractors, Guests, Project Partners, and Service Users. Community members are expected to adhere to this code of conduct in all interactions, including clinical, educational, administrative, and community outreach activities, both in person and virtually.

       Planned Parenthood Regina will not tolerate any form of sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, fatphobia, or classism. This includes (but is not limited to) offensive verbal comments, deliberate intimidation, stalking or following, online bullying or harassment, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of clinic services, appointments, or workshops, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Any harmful or threatening behaviour based on another person’s sex, gender or gender expression, sexual orientation, ethnicity, disability, physical appearance or size, religion, or economic condition, may be dealt with in any of the following ways at Planned Parenthood Regina Leadership's (or representatives thereof) discretion: 

  • A verbal warning, which may include education to help the person engaging in the behaviour understand the harm their actions have caused and suggestions for moving forward. It is expected that the behaviour will stop immediately upon receiving a verbal warning. 

  • Exclusion from the Planned Parenthood Regina clinic and/or event may happen with or without prior verbal warning.

 

       Planned Parenthood Regina commits to centering the needs and leadership of those who have been harmed by another community member’s behaviour. All reports and disclosures will be believed and taken seriously. All those reporting problem behaviour will have their privacy protected. Extra support is available to those harmed by another community member’s behaviour in the form of: 

  • A safe person to debrief with who will protect your privacy and listen compassionately 

  • Assistance in contacting other support agencies as wanted or requested. 

 

*We acknowledge that no space can be guaranteed safe for everyone at all times, as physical, social, and emotional triggers that produce feelings of unsafety are unique to each person. However, we work hard to provide services that are trauma-informed and practice cultural safety in all aspects of clinic operations.
